I’m starting out and I see different thickness macrame rope sizes from 2mm to 10mm. What thickness should I choose?
We sell 3mm and 4mm ropes and we recommend these to begin with. It’s a nice medium thickness, feels good in the hands and produces results fast.
As a rule of thumb, the smaller and more detailed the project, the thinner the rope to use. As your projects get bigger in size – such as a large wallhanging -I would recommend 4mm and 5mm thickness. The finished work will look more voluminous.
If you don’t see the rope thickness you need, please get in touch – we sell ropes 2mm – 6.5mm thickness. Happy macrame-making 🙂
